JAKE Farm LLC Livestock Process
Berkshire hogs, Cattle, and Chicken are raised responsibly and sustainably for high-quality pasture-raised meat. Sows and boars are sold for sausage production after their reproductive life.
Nursery Operations
- Focus on raising pigs from weaning to the feeder stage (40-80 lbs).
Finishing Operations
- Focus on raising pigs for pork from the feeder stage (225-280 lbs).
- Harvesting is done ethically and responsibly by Certified USDA Processors.
Handling & Environment Standards
JAKE Farm LLC is committed to raising Berkshire hogs, cattle, and chickens, focusing on responsible practices, animal welfare, and quality pork production.
Feed & Water
- Livestock must receive enough feed and water to maintain a healthy body condition.
- Feed and water may be withheld for specific management or healthcare purposes.
Space
- Sufficient space is provided for livestock, including semi-confined nurseries/shelters and outdoor lots/pastures.
Health Care
- Prompt healthcare is provided, including pharmaceuticals and biologicals used according to label directions or vet instructions.
- Prescription and extra-label medications are administered as directed by a licensed veterinarian with a valid veterinarian-client-patient relationship.
- Livestock are routinely observed for well-being.
- Livestock Handling and Transport: Handling and loading/unloading for transport are done to minimize injury risk.
- Any equipment used for handling and transport is used in a way that minimizes injury risk and is consistent with the manufacturer's recommendations.
