Farm Rules
  • Follow farm personnel instructions: Always listen carefully to and follow the instructions given by the farm staff or owner.
  • Stay in designated areas: Only access areas that are explicitly permitted for visitors. Do not wander into animal housing, pastures, or handling facilities unless accompanied by farm staff and instructed to do so.
  • Maintain proper distance: Maintain a safe distance from animals, especially larger livestock like cattle or horses. Their size and unpredictable nature can pose a risk, even if they appear docile.
  • Be aware of animal behavior: Observe animals for signs of aggression or fear, such as pinned ears, raised tails, or bared teeth. These can indicate they feel threatened. Avoid approaching animals that appear agitated.
  • Avoid sudden movements and loud noises: Animals can be easily startled by unexpected actions or loud sounds. Move slowly and deliberately around them, and speak in a calm, quiet voice.
  • Do not feed animals without permission: Never offer food to animals unless you have explicit permission from the farmer. Inappropriate feeding can cause health issues.
  • Respect animal space, especially mothers with young or male animals: Livestock, especially mothers with newborns, can be fiercely protective of their offspring. Also, be cautious around male animals, as they can be more territorial. Always have an escape route when working in close quarters with animals.
  • Clean and disinfect footwear and clothing: To prevent the spread of diseases between farms or areas on the farm, clean and disinfect your shoes before entering and after leaving livestock facilities. Some farms may provide protective footwear or require specific clothing.
  • Practice good personal hygiene: Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after contact with animals or their surroundings, especially before eating or drinking.
  • Park in designated spaces.
